Antoine Makoumbou

Antoine Makoumbou is a midfielder born in Paris, France, on 18 July 1998. He developed in the Monaco academy before joining Ajaccio B in 2018 and later moving to Mainz 05 II in Germany. In 2020, Makoumbou moved to Slovenian club Tabor Sežana, where his senior career gained momentum. He joined Maribor on loan in 2021, helped the club win the 2021–22 league title, and subsequently made the move permanent. Cagliari signed him in 2022, giving Makoumbou a route into Italian football as he progressed from Serie B to Serie A. In July 2025, he transferred to Samsunspor, adding Turkish top-flight and European competition to his experience. A holding midfielder, Makoumbou protects the defence, recycles possession and offers a composed first pass, while his physical presence supports ball recovery. He has also represented Congo at international level.
