Andrew David Gutman

Andrew David Gutman is an American defender who developed in the Chicago Fire Academy after growing up in Hinsdale, Illinois. He helped the Fire’s U-17/18 side win the 2015 USSDA National Championship before joining Indiana University. From 2015 to 2018, Gutman started all 90 matches he played, producing 20 goals and 17 assists, and won the 2018 MAC Hermann Trophy after leading the Hoosiers to 15 shutouts. He signed for Celtic in January 2019 but, unable to play competitively because of work-permit issues, gained experience on loan with Charlotte Independence and FC Cincinnati. Gutman moved to the New York Red Bulls in 2021 and Atlanta United in 2022, establishing himself as an attacking left-back. After a spell with the Colorado Rapids, he returned to Chicago in December 2023. Gutman’s pace, tackling and forward runs now support the Fire as a versatile full-back or wing-back.
