Axel Thurel Sahuye Guessand
Axel Thurel Sahuye Guessand is a French defender born in Schiltigheim on 6 November 2004. He developed in Alsace with AS Strasbourg, Pierrots Vauban Strasbourg and SC Schiltigheim before entering AS Nancy-Lorraine’s academy in 2018. Guessand made his professional debut for Nancy against Auxerre in Ligue 2 in August 2021, aged 16. In July 2022, Udinese signed him, giving the tall centre-back a move into Italian football. He made his Serie A debut against Juventus in June 2023, starting and playing 45 minutes, before joining FC Volendam on loan in January 2024, where he made two brief appearances. Primarily a centre-back, Guessand has also operated at left-back and is currently listed with Kalamata; he has represented France at under-18 level.
