Aleksandr Golovin
Aleksandr Golovin is a Russian midfielder born in Kaltan on 30 May 1996. He developed in Siberia with Metallurg Novokuznetsk and an Olympic-reserve school in Leninsk-Kuznetsky before joining CSKA Moscow’s system in 2012. Golovin made his CSKA first-team debut in 2014 and helped the club win the Russian Premier League in 2016. He became a Russian international in 2015 and gained worldwide attention at the 2018 World Cup, scoring and providing two assists in the opening win over Saudi Arabia as Russia reached the quarter-finals. After the tournament, he moved to Monaco, where he established himself as a creative presence in Ligue 1. Golovin has operated as a central or attacking midfielder and sometimes from the left, combining line-breaking passing, close control and energetic pressing. In February 2021, he became the first Russian to score a Ligue 1 hat-trick, doing so against Nîmes.
