Abdoulaye Diaby

Abdoulaye Diaby is a Malian defender who plays as a centre-back for Grasshoppers. Born in Mali on 4 July 2000, he developed at Djoliba AC before moving into European football with Royal Antwerp and later joining KSC Lokeren on loan. Diaby signed for Hungary’s Újpest FC in 2021, continuing his development in senior competition. In 2023, he moved to Switzerland to join FC St. Gallen, where he established himself in the league. He subsequently switched to Grasshoppers, adding another Swiss top-flight chapter to his career. At youth international level, Diaby helped Mali win the 2019 Africa U-20 Cup of Nations and represented the team at that year’s FIFA U-20 World Cup. Standing 1.99 metres, Abdoulaye Diaby offers defensive presence through his height, aerial play, clearances and work as a physical stopper.
