Alessandro Deiola

Alessandro Deiola is an Italian midfielder from San Gavino Monreale, born on 1 August 1995. He developed in Cagliari’s youth academy before beginning his senior career away from the club. After returning to Cagliari in 2015, Deiola scored on his debut in a Coppa Italia win over Virtus Entella and helped the team win the 2015–16 Serie B title. He subsequently gained experience through loans with Parma, Lecce and Spezia, including 12 Serie A appearances for Spezia before returning to Sardinia in January 2021. Since then, Deiola has become an established member of Cagliari’s midfield, contributing physical presence and defensive work. He can operate centrally or in a deeper role, using his height in midfield and set-piece situations. In May 2025, Deiola scored an acrobatic goal against Venezia that was nominated for the FIFA Puskás Award.
