Alberto Brignoli
Alberto Brignoli is an Italian goalkeeper born in Trescore Balneario in 1991. He developed through Sarnico and Grumellese before beginning his senior career with Montichiari in Serie D and progressing via Lumezzane to Ternana in 2012. His assured performances in Ternana’s goal attracted Juventus, who subsequently sent him on loan to Sampdoria, Leganés and Perugia. During a 2017–18 loan at Benevento, he scored a dramatic late diving header against Milan, securing the club’s first Serie A point and becoming only the third goalkeeper in Serie A to score from open play. After spells with Palermo and Empoli, he helped Empoli win Serie B in 2020–21 and was named the division’s best goalkeeper. Brignoli moved to Panathinaikos in 2021, where his goalkeeping and leadership contributed to Greek Cup triumphs in 2022 and 2024. In July 2024, he joined AEK Athens, continuing a career spanning Italian and Greek football.
