Alaa Bellaarouch
Alaa Bellaarouch is a Moroccan goalkeeper born in Casablanca on 1 February 2002. He developed at Morocco’s Mohammed VI Football Academy before moving to Strasbourg in 2020 and continuing his education with the club’s reserve side. Bellaarouch joined Stade Briochin on loan for the 2022–23 season, making 15 appearances in France’s third tier. He returned to Strasbourg in 2023–24 and made his Ligue 1 debut against Paris Saint-Germain on 2 February 2024. In that match, Bellaarouch saved a penalty from Kylian Mbappé, while a misplaced clearance later allowed Marco Asensio to score. The 1.88-metre keeper is described as a modern sweeper-keeper, using his distribution and activity outside the area to support a high defensive line. He also formed part of Morocco’s victorious Under-23 team at the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations. Current squad records list Bellaarouch with Dinamo Bucuresti and Strasbourg II.
