Ashley Thomas Baker
Ashley Thomas Baker is a Welsh right-back from Bridgend, known for his defensive versatility. He developed at Cardiff City after playing rugby in his youth, but was released by the academy in January 2017. Baker then earned a trial with Sheffield Wednesday and signed his first professional contract, making his senior debut in a Championship victory over Norwich City in May 2018. He later moved to Newport County in January 2020, where he continued his development and scored his first senior goal in an FA Cup tie against Leyton Orient. In July 2021, Baker joined The New Saints and established himself as a regular right-back while also contributing in wider defensive roles. His spell brought three Cymru Premier titles, two Welsh Cups and a League Cup, with Baker scoring in the 2024 Welsh Cup final. He joined Penybont in 2025, returning to football in his native area.
