Andrei Agius
Andrei Agius is a Maltese football defender born in Pietà on 12 August 1986. He developed at Santa Lucija and Sliema Wanderers, making his senior debut for Sliema as a midfielder in 2003. Agius then moved abroad, joining Zemun before beginning a decade in Italian football. At Messina, he converted to central defence and continued his development through Martina, Igea Virtus, Melfi and Latina. With Latina, he helped secure promotion to Serie B and won the 2012–13 Coppa Italia Lega Pro. Returning to Malta in 2014, Agius became a key defender and captain for Hibernians, contributing to three Premier League titles in 2015, 2017 and 2022. He also captained Malta and reached 103 international appearances, completing a career that bridged Italian tactical education with sustained leadership at home.
