Þórir Jóhann Helgason
Þórir Jóhann Helgason is an Icelandic midfielder from Hafnarfjörður, born on 28 September 2000. He developed at FH Hafnarfjörður, where he played senior football from 2018 to 2021, recording 46 league appearances and three goals in Iceland’s Úrvalsdeild. In July 2021, Helgason moved to Italian club Lecce and helped the side win the 2021–22 Serie B title and promotion. He later spent the 2023–24 season on loan with Eintracht Braunschweig in Germany’s 2. Bundesliga, making 27 appearances and scoring three goals. Helgason made his Iceland debut in 2021 and was part of the squad that won the 2022 Baltic Cup. His midfield work includes direct distribution, long passing, ball progression and defensive coverage, with his 1.87-metre frame useful in central areas. He is listed with Venezia.
