VS
Ajax and NEC Nijmegen present a clear Ajax advantage, but the matchup has produced enough resistance to avoid an automatic script. The teams drew 1–1 on 21 February 2026 and 2–2 on 20 December 2025, while NEC Nijmegen won 3–0 away on 11 May 2025. Ajax’s 5–0 victory on 14 August 2021 supplies the contrasting evidence for the wider hierarchy.

Matchup Ajax VS NEC Nijmegen
Ajax remain the stronger reference point
The balance leans clearly toward Ajax, whose superiority has appeared in both close and emphatic results. Ajax won 5–0 at home on 14 August 2021, a scoreline that illustrates the distance the matchup can create. Their stronger position is not synonymous with a wide margin in every meeting, however; the pairing can also become a close contest when NEC resist.
NEC Nijmegen have credible interruptions
NEC Nijmegen’s 3–0 away win at Ajax on 11 May 2025 is a substantial counterexample among the dated results. The 2–2 draw at NEC on 20 December 2025 and the 1–1 at Ajax on 21 February 2026 add a second pattern: resistance through a level score rather than an outright upset. Those results do not erase Ajax’s stronger position, but they keep the fixture intellectually open. Future meetings will ask whether NEC can compress the difference again, or whether Ajax can turn their established advantage into clearer control.
